Alpha
Now, 32 third-party publishers in Japan are working on 64 games for the upcoming dual-screen portable, including new installments in the Bokutai and Castlevania franchises. TOKYO--Today, Nintendo released an updated list of Japanese game publishers and their announced titles for the Nintendo DS. The list includes 64 titles from 32 third-party publishers, as well as eight titles from Nintendo itself. Among the more interesting developments, Konami Japan will release a Bokutai game, while Konami Tokyo will release a Castlevania game for the DS. Namco will release a new Mr. Driller game and an unnamed role-playing game. The latter might be an original intellectual property or possibly a Tales game, considering that the series is making its way to Sony’s handheld, the PSP. Def Jam Vendetta’s developer Aki will release a game named Mikke!, which is the Japanese title for the I Spy picture-book series by Jean Marzollo and Walter Wick. Square Enix, which just recently began to recruit for a new Seiken Densetsu project, revealed that it will release a new game in the series for the DS. Absent from the list was Konami's Frogger 2005 game, which was announced at the last E3. Also missing in action was From Software, which Nintendo mentioned as a third-party publisher as recently as last month. For those interested in North American publishers for the DS, Nintendo announced that it will release a full list on its official English site around August 10.
