MAME dipswitch settings?

Is there a way to modify a game's dipswitch type settings in MAME32 like you can in NeoRagex? Such as difficulty, blood, etc? I tried to google for this information and can't find it anywhere.

You press tab and sometimes the dip switches menu pops up.

With the later Games like Neogeo,Capcom press F2 while in game it should bring up the bios settings or dipswitches.
