Agozer Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 (edited) Nice system. If you want a benchmark, get Doom 3. Edited August 29, 2004 by Agozer
Gryph Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 I approve. You can run 3DMark2003, that's a pretty good benchmark. But yeah, Doom III is the real test right now.
zhugeliang Posted August 29, 2004 Author Posted August 29, 2004 yeah, i run doom 3 at ultra with aa at 2x screen resolution 1028 x 768only lags for half a sec when opening doors but thats considered zoning, right?
Agozer Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 AA and AF are useless in Doom 3!Truth. Quite useless unless you actually see jaggies.
Gryph Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 (edited) Antialiasing is useless in Doom III, but when you do High and Ultra settings it automatically does 8x Anisoptoric Filtering. And the slowdown when opening doors is decompressing textures on the fly, I don't know if its called zoning. If you have the harddrive space (4 gigs+) unpack the pk4 files in the doom3/base directory and that slowdown should also disappear. Edited August 29, 2004 by GryphonKlaw
Shibathedog Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 my friend has a similar system P4 3.4GHzGeForce 6800 256MB GT OC (from BFG)1 gig of the fastest DDR RAMDont really know the rest We hooked his PC up to his 60 inch widescreen Plasma HDTV and his 7.1 surround (hes got one of those fancy amps that converts anything to 7.1, and converting 5.1 to 7.1 works pretty damn well) It was the most awsome experience of my life. Now if only i could somehow do that on a rollercoaster or something...
random guy Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Nice, very nice. Puts my comp to shame (I still love you, computer, don't worry).
Shibathedog Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 i still love my computer, my computer seems to be able to run anything BUT doom 3 on maxed out graphics at 1024X768 (at least, but i dont like going higher than that anyway)
