From the video, it looks really heavy on linear rush combos and pop-up-to-air -combo stuff. The supers are interesting, if somewhat anticlimactic in that they have these huge dramatic effects for the "dramatic pause" and then a rather understated move effect (although the one guy's slow-mo haymaker was cool). Character designs range from decent to downright silly. Backgrounds aren't bad.

The new animation style (outlined in the gamespot review) looks interesting in some of the more complex animations, but seems to cause weirdness when the characters change direction or make abrupt changes in stance.

Y'know what it reminds me of? ROTD... Dunno why...

Thanks for the links Daeval. And I think you were right on about the ROTD comparison.

Though I haven't played the game, it's telling a lot that I never see any tourney vids for this game from any Japanese sites.

Same here once I watched someone playing Rumble Fish at the arcades here months ago. Now it's gone I believe. :(

The way Rumble Fish, and lately other Sammy games that aren't Guilty Gear. This game is actually "2.5D" to a sense. Because it uses a 3d skeleton mesh for the character with each limb drawn into 2D. You notice in the video their is some choppyness, from the beta reports a while back. This is infact is a flaw in the game and not the video. At times, mostly noticable on the Kaya and the other pallet swamp chick who looks like her show the flaw the most.
