Sound problem with WinMugen

I'm running winmugen in XP and the mp3 background music breaks up really bad. My full duplexing works fine outside of the game. I can even load up a playlist of mp3s while playing winmugen and it works fine. But when winmugen is playing mp3s the music is crap. I've played with the device settings in the config file but that seems to just make things worse. Anyone know what could be wrong?

thanks for the link! i was having some problems with soundtracks being skipped sometimes on certain stages......maybe I'll get it fixed now.
