Wizard Posted September 16, 2004 Share Posted September 16, 2004 In North America, it is not illegal to own a mod chip, what's illegal is what you intended to do with it. As in renting and copying a game as to backing up you're originals (Which I used to do for a short time to my PS1 games after I got my mod chip for it). Anyways, modchips are legal for backing up your stuff, but illegal if you plan on renting and copying a game, or anything along those lines.
