That's if you generated the patch against the ROM. I'm talking about when you generate the patch against command.com or something else available on all Windows PCs.

I've been wondering about how this patch business might be able to be used as a loophole. Distributing roms are against the rules, period. But distributing patches seems to be ok.

So what's to stop somebody from generating a patch for a romset against any arbitry known file (eg command.com) and posting that? All the user has to do is apply this patch on the known file, and he'll get the rom.

the idea is simply not to take the risk of being sued / shutdown or any crap like those by helping in distribution of copyrighted ROM images. patches alone are useless without the ROMs to begin with. they are simply considered tools and are as legit as other ROM utilties on the internet (ROMBuild, MGD -> MVS converter, etc.)

You don't get the point. The originals are not needed if you generate an IPS against some known file on the OS. Afterall, a patch is really just the diff between ANY 2 files.

eg. i generate an IPS between m1 and command.com and distribute that "patch", anyone with the same command.com can apply this IPS and it gives back the m1.

well yes, its true that its possible. but IPS patching basically has a general usage that it cant really be deemed as illegal. theres just too many variables (not to include end-users ability to understand these). i think what theyre really trying to do is to prevent any illegal material on the site/forums and IPS patches are the next best thing to circumvent ROM needs.

if IPS patching are law-breakers then this site would have been shut down by Nintendo ages ago.

Well those sort patches will not be allowed IPS patches are ok.Now are you trying to get patches banned on here as well ?

Quick question, I d'led the game and managed to find the good sound fixes. (MAJOR Improvement of sounds! :P )

However, I have yet to find how I could get the game "uncensored" (not just bloody, but the Overkills, decaps, torso sunders, etc. already shown). Has any rom files to do that come out already?

FYI, I have it on Kawaks

And I'm just asking. I'm not looking for handouts of roms files just curious to know if it indeed has come out.

Get Razola's Universe BIOS and your problems are solved. It wouldn't hurt to fiddle with the Neo-Geo Test Menu ---> Soft DIP Settings either. :P

A cheat for Kawaks/Nebula.

Ah ok. However, it gave me trouble at first until I figured out this was the first "cheat" for the dat.file I created for it. So instead of [01], it should have been [00] instead.

Either way, I found the exact "uncensored" choice and I'm having a blast with it. Swithin, I give you a million thanks of gratitude man. You are the best. :P

PS: if you have any other cheats for it handy, let me know so I can add them to my dat file. :P

Also, notice that you can get the color modifier up to FF. Most chars come out *very* odd, but there seem to be 'runs' of four numbers which get everything right: skintone, shading, etc - for instance, Hanzo and Galford look good all the way from 01-12 (including Hanzo in Galford colors and vice versa), and Kazuki (IIRC) has some *very* cool colors between 08-12 (or 11-14, or somewhere around there) including a sky-blue outfit with blue flames that just looks too cool to describe.

I've got it all annotated up through 128, but apparently one cheat can't have more than 128 entries and it was just too time-intensive to make a separate cheat for each character with the colors they look good in (although I might still get around to it.)

Try: Nakoruru 11, Rera 13/16, Genjuro 23, Rera 25, Amakusa 33-34, Zankuro 35, Amakusa and Ukyo 43, Jubei 52, Haohmaru 73 (there's a small surprise here), there's just too many. And these aren't even all "perfect", they're just cool palettes. [edit: whoops, these aren't in hex. You can convert base10 into hex if you want, or you can wait for me to put up a master list.]

Screw it, I need to make the gigantor cheat file, including small-size mode, palettes, song selection, etc.
