Daeval Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 Valve won't let it die without releasing something that lets you play the game. If they don't, they'd be sued to all hell so you can pretty much guarantee that the games won't die when Steam dies.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I suppose if Valve doesn't, someone will.. *Sigh* perhaps it's the silver pack for me.
Gryph Posted November 13, 2004 Author Posted November 13, 2004 Great article, but it's hella long. The Final Hours of Half-Life 2
OverlordMondo Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 I heard a rumor that Half-Life 2 is actually going to be a turn based card game. Any truth to this?
Gryph Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 I heard a rumor that Half-Life 2 is actually going to be a turn based card game. Any truth to this?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Haha, I don't think there is any rumor to that. Anyway, PLEASE GET THE GAME FROM STEAM. I urge you to not buy retail even if you see it in stores. Stores are putting it on shelves but Vivendi is blocking Valve from unlocking the game. If you have purchased a copy of Half-Life 2, we are sorry you are still waiting to play. This is not Valve's choice. Vivendi is insisting that the game has not yet been released, and has threatened that Valve would be in violation of its contract if we activate the Half-Life 2 Steam authentication servers at this time. Thanks for your patience and we will update you when we have more news to share.http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&id=344
random guy Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Should have known this would happen given that Sierra went under.
Daeval Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Who's to say you'll be able to activate it if you get the steam version? Just out of curiosity?
Gryph Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 (edited) Who's to say you'll be able to activate it if you get the steam version? Just out of curiosity?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> You won't yet but Valve is ready and willing to unlock it now, but Vivendi won't let them. EDIT: HAHAHAHA! Agozer Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Wow. An unexpected move from Vivendi... at least for me it was.
Agozer Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHA! ROFL. That was pretty good.
