Daeval Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 -FireFox-Thunderbird-Winamp-Nero-DivX Codecs-AdAware-WinRAR (Zip support is native in XP)-Anti-Virus of Choice-Office Suite of Choice-Instant Messenger of Choice And of course DRIVERS! I like to DL all the latest/best drivers for the hardware I'm going to be using, along with the software above, and burn it to a disk for handy installation to a new system. Then, run Windows Update until you're out of good things to get and you've covered pretty much all the absolutely necessary stuff with me. But then there's the optionals: -ABC (Torrent Client)-eMule-EditPad Lite-WinXP PowerToys (Open Command Window Here, Tweak UI, Power Calculator, and Virtual Desktop Manager) And for some reason I can't seem to do without Acrobat Reader for more than a week after a new install, so I just install it with the OS. Heh. And that's damn near everything, aside from games and school/hobby apps, that I have installed!
Gryph Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Norton 2004 sucks!! IT'S SO SLOW! Don't use it! Use 2005 instead.
AntiWinner22 Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 I'll add programs that others have failed to mention: Trillian (All chat programs in one. Free, too.) Solo AntiVirus (resources are never used. I think it uses 5K of RAM. I say that is good. Sygate Firewall (no resouce usage either. Really good, though. I love it) Overnet Lite.52 (Get the programs I mentioned here. ) Anon.
Shibathedog Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 doesnt overnet lite not work anymore or it got shut down or something?
