supa_al
How much power is needed to run games like Crusin USA N such? They just run so choppy. Which are the racing games that you guys recommend that run pretty good?
Agozer
Well, I wouldn't play those "high-end" 3D games in MAME, but that's just me. If you really must play it in MAME, I'd suggest fiddling with the frameskip option or ultimately disabling sound emulation.
supa_al
Grrr...oh well. The only 3d games that i have that "play well" as its bigger brothers are KI and KI Gold. I tried the frame skip thing and it looks ugly, or disabling sound is no fun. Oh well, i could always get them for N64 but its not the same. By the way does anybody remember a racing game that was on the NES where you drive trucks, its like a side view, but you control them from top view. Its hard to explain but the course has like oil that must be avoided and stuff, and wrenches so you can power up or something. Too bad i dont remember the name but just curious if it was on mame. If so, ten there's a great chance tht MAME does emulate it. If the game was NES-only, then MAME doen't emulate it most likely. Btw, regarding your original post, what are your computer specs? supa_al
Yeah im pretty sure more power is needed. It's just funny how old these games are and that they require more power than Doom 3, lol. Doom 3 on my comp fits like a glove, but games like Blitz chug like crazy. How about you Weirdanzeige, what are you running? Is there any other 3d game on mame that runs quite well on your guys comps?
James
http://www.mame.net/mamefaq.html#m14 In emulation world, megahertz is not analogous from your main CPU to the emulated CPU. MAME not only rigorously emulates every opcode of the emulated CPU(s), but also memory interfaces, video output and sound emulation, and all this in portable C code. See also the next question. supa_al
Ic -----()-()----- I did not know that. I should just accept what we have and be thankful for it, but hey it couldnt hurt to ask. All i need now though is a controller to use instead of the ol faithful (keyboard) Ive been looking into the super joypad 5 for the ps2, the one where you can hook up 4 ps controllers. Is this a cool gadget to get or do you guys have better ones?
